Finished anatomy

This is a finished anatomy drawing, made with pencil. The drawing took about 40 minuets to be complete. The drawing shows a standing man in a relaxed position. His left leg is sitting on a chair. He is located higher than the right one.

His left hand is sitting on to the left knee, while the right one is holing on the  left one. The right leg is stepped on the ground for balance.

The light source is coming from the back of the model. The light is really strong, casting strong highlights on the back of the person and nice shadows on his front. The chair he is sitting on casts shadow on his hip.
His head is leaning foreword.

Finished still life

This is a finished still life composition, made with pencil. The drawing toke about 50 minuets to be complete. The composition is made by five different types of vases, made from one material. The drawing is shaded completely. Each item on has different shape and different height.

The focal point in this drawing is located on the highlights on the second highest object, which has a really strange shape. The area of interest is located on to the huge object that looks like a jar. The big object has
a nice details on it. All the items are kissing and none is left aside. The eye is concentrated on the bigger objects on the table.

The light source is located on the left of the table, the light is strong, as well as the shadows. All the objects are above a nice curvy sheet, casting a shadow over it.

Finished landscape

This is a finished architecture drawing, made with pencil. The drawing took about an hour and 30 minuets to be finished. The unique feature about this drawing is the curves of, which slide in the rear of each of the
three main support pillars. They look like spiral and are going from top to bottom. The three pillars are linked one to another in among. The link is located on the top part of the monument. The monument is really interesting because of the shapes which has. The shapes change from every angle. The drawing has a three perspective points. They are located on top of each pillar. They combine in some point of the void. Although, the main lines are not perfectly strait.

The focal point in this drawing is the link among the pillars. The area of interest is located on beneath the link, where the drawing is most detailed - the place where you can see the third pillar, where it makes wonderful shapes.

Week 13 Facial Expression and mood

This is a portrait drawing, made with pencil. The drawing toked about an hour to be complete. The portrait is made form front - side view. The topic for this portrait is expression. The expression in this drawing
is hypnoses, because the model been drown is staring like hypnotized at the TV.

The eyes are watching at one direction, and the right eye is a little hidden by the nose. The gesture of this drawing is relaxing. The ear is shown beneath the hair, and has en earring on it. The nose turned out great,
because the hardest part is drawn correctly. The mouth is on the right place, but the main curve line which divides the upper and lower lip is a bit wrong.

The light souse is coming strait to the face, and is really strong. The shading reveals the facial muscles and the skull. And small highlight is shining in the eye.

Week 12 Facial Anatomy

This is a portrait drawing made with charcoal. The drawing tooled about 15 minuets to be complete. The face is drown from a side view. The right eye is easily seen, while the left eye is on the other side of the nose,
making only part of it visible.

This drawing has a strong highlights. The strongest highlight is located on the forehead. Also, the chin is highly lighted. The light source is coming left from the model's head, making very interesting shades, formed on the right part of models face.

Most of the facial parts are located on the right place, the left part is on the right spot, but the chin is a little to big and to stretched out, despite the facet that the original model has a pretty stretched out chin.
And the year is supposed to go a little more upwards. The area of interest in this drawing is the forehead, the eyes and the eyebrows, because of the strong highlight. The eye is following the highlights, which are going down the nose and to the chin.

Week 11 Colour in skin

This is a pastel drawing of a naked model. The drawing is made for about 15 minuets. The color palette chosen for this drawing is black and white on a green background. The black is sticking out of the green, while the white gives strong highlights.

The model is sitting on a table, covered with a sheet. The right leg is standing higher then the left one. And the right arm is leaning on the leg and the head is leaning on the right arm, giving support for the body.
The left shoulder is stretched forward, and the arm is placed among the legs, giving balance for the drawing.
The focal point for this drawing is the left part of the hip, because the highlights there are the strongest. From there, the eye follows the highlights on the leg and then going upwards from the left stretched arm, while noticing the  right limbs of the figure.

Week 10 Clothing and drapery

This is a pastel drawing of a model wearing a huge robe. The drawing is made for about 20 minuets.
The robe is covering almost the entire body of the posing model, and makes a lot of curves. The model is sitting on a chair, allowing the drapery to slide down his body and create the wonderful curves. A bit information is given for the limbs of the model, just enough to give information of where everything stands. The left leg is standing on a higher level then the right one, and both hands are comfortably relaxed on both feet on different height, giving balance to the drawing.

I choose purple paper with white and dark blue pastels for this drawing. The blue sticks out from the bright purple, while the white gives strong highlights.

The focal point of this drawing is the right arm. After the eye sees it, starts following the curves among the legs, which make an "M"shape, then goes to the left leg and arm. The strong highlights give the drawing
a more detailed and specific look.

Week 9 Anatomy refresher - basic anatomy

This is a 30 minuet drawing, made with pencil. The focus on this drawing was Anatomy refresher - muscular and skeletal anatomy. The chosen vantage point shows balance in the figure drawing and also
shows the main muscles of the human body. The lines in the middle of the chest open the body. The left arm is stretched foreword just a bit, hidden brined the belly. The back is passive in terms of line, because
only a small part of the shoulder blade is been reviled. The way his legs are placed, show balance. The bigger part of the left leg is hidden behind the right one.

The lighting whiles the drawing was been made was really strong. The light was facing the model and it is shown on the drawing. The unlighted parts of the body are strongly shaded, depending on the quantity of missing light.

The drawing is not bad, but not everything is perfect in it. The belly is slightly bigger than it should be and the legs look smaller, because the right leg is been hidden by the sheet covering the chair on which the
model sits.

Week 8 Refraction & Distortion - Directed study only

This is a direct study drawing on reflecting surfaces. The drawing is made for about one hour. The main medium used for the drawing is pencil and graphite stick. The composition is made from five different types
of glasses. Each glass has a different shape and suits a different purpose.

The other important part of the composition is the strong light, coming from the right of the drawing, which is seen in the reflection. The light source is so close to the glasses, that the reflection is so strong,
that it appears on the left side of the glasses as well as on the right side, leaving only the middle area of the glasses darkened. This is because the glass in transparent and the light passes true both walls of
the glasses.

The entire idea of this composition is the direct study of the different shapes and forms that the glasses have and the different reflection which each one makes. The main thing while drawing reflection in glasses
is the shape of the object.

Week 7 Manmade forms

This is a drawing on man made vehicles, made with few types of pencil. The drawing is made for about one hour and twenty minuets. At first, the bike was sketched very careful, because it contained a lot of different parts, made by combining simple shapes and forms, used in the basic observational drawing.

The perspective was hard to do. There was a small angle on the front wheel and handle and also to the back part of the bike. This drawing had many elements of technical drawing, just as every other man made vehicle. And to get the motorbike done correctly, a lot of five minuet sketches where required before the beginning of the finished drawing.

The oncoming light was really strong. That is why the shading was made very careful. To be accurate, a few types of soft pencil where required. The vantage point is behind the back wheel. And the other side of the handle is an example of four shortening.

Week 6 Skies and seas

This is a landscape drawing, showing the horizon and the sky above the horizon. The landscape is made with colored pastels for about fifteen minuets. The color palette used for the sky is made from a few colors -
white, black, gray and blue. I have chosen to make the cloud highlights white, and the shadows black. The viewer can Easley spot the horizontal line, because it is been split by completely different color.
The information below the horizontal line is very poor, because particularly for this drawing, the ground is not that important as the sky.

The sky is very dark, just like the clouds, and the highlights on the clouds make them visible on the range of the whole dark, mono colored sky. The gap among the sky and the ground is the end border for the
clouds, the place where the light starts to come out, but is still far away. The main light source for the cloud comes from the right side of the landscape, but unfortunately, it is not as strong as desired.
The clouds are made by using different ways of using the pastels. The background is made with the long side of the pastel, while the highlights are made with the thin edge.

Week 5 Handling Complex Information

This is a drawing made for a short period of time, designd do give the impression to the viewer that the drawing has a lot of information in it. It was made for about ten minuets , while useing a verry thin black ballpen.

The whole idea for this drawing is to put a lot of information for a short period of time. Thanks to the pen, it easy to determinate the light source.

Week 4 Different media in landscapes

This is an interior landscape drawing. The drawing is made with a few types of pencil and graphite stick. The drawing is made for about one hour and fifteen minuets, it's finished and highly detailed. And contains a
different values of shading, made with the different types of pencils and graphite sticks, starting form light sketch, and ending with the use of dark tonal values. The contrast in the shading is high.

The drawing has a three perspective points. Each point is used to create one of the three main walls shown in the drawing. All three of them are located outside the drawing. The area of interest
is located in the middle of the page, where the drawing si highly detailed. The focal point is located on the pillar in the middle of the window, which makes the eye follow the lines starting from the pillar,
leading to the right end of the drawing, revealing the details and the shading on the both sides of the corner of the room, using the rule of thirds.

Week 3 Architectural rendering

This is a landscape drawing made with pencil. The Drawing was made for about 50 minuets. It's completely finished and shaded, and contains a high level of contrast. For instance, notice the strong highlights formed form the light, on the rooftop of the building standing infrequent. The roof is made from a reflective material, similar to glass. Also, notice the interesting shape that the roof forms from this angle. This is a two point perspective drawing. Both of the perspective points are located outside the right side of the page. One perspective point is used for each building.

The area of interest is shown on the left side of the drawing, where the highlights are stronger. Specifically for this drawing, the highlights are more important then the details. The viewer's eye is supposed to go from left to right, following the highlights - from light to dark, heading to the point of interest. The focal point is located on the left side of the drawing, among the two buildings.

Week 2 Back to Observational Drawing

This is a drawing, containing 4 quick sketches, mede to study the different angle of a still life composition. The sketches are made with pencil and each one took approximatly 3 minuets to produce.

The composition is made form 5 different items - 5 vasese. Each vase has it's own unique shape and place in the composition. The quick sketches are meade from three different angles. Number one and two are from the same angle, because this is probubbly the best angle for this composition.
